Community developer Tyler (@btsouth) has shared Omaroll, a photo and video viewer that also works as a local media library, built specifically for Omarchy. In an X post on October 12, 2026, he summed up the pitch: “Omarchy makes your whole desktop beautiful. Then you open a photo in imv.”
Omaroll opens a picture or video in its own viewer, with the rest of the folder an arrow key away. Video plays in the same viewer, and pressing Enter takes you to your whole library. According to Tyler, it follows your theme live.
The project’s README on GitHub describes it as “a quick viewer and a home for your media.” Opened on its own, Omaroll lets you browse photos, videos, PDFs, screenshots and recordings together, with albums, tags and search, while your files stay where they are.
Browsing and organization work locally, without accounts or telemetry, according to the README. It also states clearly that Omaroll is an independent community project, not an official Omarchy application.
Omaroll requires x86_64 Omarchy or Arch Linux with Qt 6.8+ and Poppler. It is written in C++ and released under the MIT license. The recommended install adds the author’s signed package repository so Omaroll updates with the rest of the system through omarchy update; standalone release packages are also available.
DHH reposted the announcement. At the time of writing, the original post had about 114 likes and 7,700 views.
