Strata 1.0 is a keyboard-first file manager designed for Omarchy
The open-source Rust file manager from l0gicgate hit 1.0 with Miller columns, fuzzy search, rich previews and live Omarchy theme following. DHH reposted the launch.

Strata, a keyboard-first file manager for Linux, reached version 1.0 on October 12, 2026. Its author, l0gicgate, announced it on X with a bold claim: “The best file manager on Linux, fully open source.” DHH reposted the announcement.
According to the project’s README, Strata “is designed for Omarchy and works on compatible GTK4 Linux environments.” It combines spatial Miller-column navigation with familiar Icons and List views, instant fuzzy filename search, rich previews and native desktop integration.
The README describes three browser modes, directional-key movement, navigation history, pane filtering and quick previews. Pressing Ctrl+K opens a recursive search that covers Home and all mounted local drives, even while the tree is still being indexed. An optional “10xer mode” hides window chrome and uses Yazi-style keys.
Previews cover Markdown, HTML, text, source code, images, camera RAW, PDF, audio and video. Audio opens in a now-playing view with artwork and a live spectrum, and video gets a keyframe storyboard while scrubbing. Strata can also browse remote GIO/GVfs locations such as SMB shares and SFTP servers.
For Omarchy users, the README documents how to make Strata the default Omarchy file manager and how to have it follow the Omarchy theme live. The v1.0.0 release notes include new Omarchy palette variants and animated, keyboard-accessible browser tabs.
In his launch post, l0gicgate says the 1.0 took 45 days, 775 commits, 38 contributors and about 300,000 lines of Rust. The project is released under the MIT license, and the repository had more than 800 stars at the time of writing.
