Eco Mode Manager plugin cuts Omarchy laptop battery drain
lutfi-zain/omarchy-eco-mode is a Quickshell bar plugin that toggles Hyprland blur, solid windows, animations, brightness cap, and a power-saver profile from one status-bar click—aimed at AMD Ryzen + Radeon Vega laptops where compositor effects eat watts.
lutfi-zain/omarchy-eco-mode (plugin id lutfi.eco) is an Omarchy Quickshell bar widget that flips a laptop into Eco Mode from the status bar.
When Eco Mode is on, it can disable Hyprland blur, force solid (100% opacity) windows, kill Hyprland animations, cap display brightness (configurable), and switch powerprofilesctl to power-saver. Each lever is individually toggleable; settings persist across reboots.
The README targets AMD Ryzen + Radeon Vega iGPU machines where multi-pass blur and transparency are the main battery culprits. It cites roughly ~11–16W with blur on versus ~5–7W in Eco Mode on the author’s setup—your hardware will differ.
Telemetry comes straight from sysfs (/sys/class/power_supply/): percentage as charge_now / charge_full, remaining time from instantaneous current/power, plus real vs design Wh health in the panel. Optional auto-switch turns Eco on when you unplug and restores when AC returns.
Install with omarchy plugin add https://github.com/lutfi-zain/omarchy-eco-mode.git --enable --yes. Left-click the leaf opens the panel; right-click toggles icon-only vs time-left + icon. MIT licensed—inspect the repo before you enable it.
