Omapop brings a PopClip-style action bar to Omarchy
Jon Kinney’s new Omapop plugin pops up a small bar of actions next to any text you select in Omarchy, with cut, copy, paste, search and link shortcuts, plus extensions written in YAML, shell or JavaScript.
Mac users who miss PopClip now have an Omarchy answer. Omapop, a third-party plugin by Jon Kinney, shows a small bar of actions beside the text you select with the mouse: Cut, Copy, Paste, Search, Open Link and Reveal in Files, plus any extensions you add.
Select text by dragging, double-clicking a word or triple-clicking a line, and the bar appears above the pointer. Buttons only show up when they make sense: Open Link replaces Search when you select a web address, Reveal in Files needs an existing path, and Cut or Paste need an editable field. Holding Shift, Ctrl, Alt or Super while clicking triggers alternate behaviour, such as an exact-phrase search. In terminals, you hold Shift while selecting by default.
Extensions are YAML snippets, shell scripts or JavaScript, following the PopClip extension format. The plugin ships a signed catalogue that approves 189 exact package versions from the PopClip Extensions Directory, including Linux ports, according to the README. Installing them is off by default, and every new extension starts disabled until you review and enable it.
Under the hood, Omapop is a Quickshell/QML plugin, with a small Lua engine running inside Hyprland to notice when a selection ends. There is no native code, no daemon and nothing to build. The README spends a long section on security: selections are read with byte limits outside the shell, clipboard entries flagged as passwords are never read, and extension JavaScript runs in a sandboxed Deno or Node process.
It needs Hyprland 0.56 or newer, Quickshell, wl-clipboard, Python with PyYAML and jq, all part of Omarchy. JavaScript extensions also need Deno or Node.js. Install it with omarchy plugin add https://github.com/jondkinney/omapop.git, then enable it with omarchy plugin enable io.github.jondkinney.omapop. It installs disabled on purpose, so you can read it first.
Omapop is at version 0.4.11 and MIT-licensed. It is a community project, not affiliated with or endorsed by Pilotmoon Software, the maker of PopClip.
