Omarchy themes get animated intros that land on your wallpaper
At login and on every theme switch, a short silent video plays and ends exactly on the still wallpaper.

“Beautiful boot/theme intros coming to Omarchy.” The official @omarchy account shared a preview on X on October 13, 2026, and credited AIR member @yamzeight for the work.
The feature came in pull request #9639, opened by GitHub user yamz8 and merged on October 7 into the quattro branch. When you log in or switch to a different theme, Omarchy plays a silent intro that matches your wallpaper, then returns to the still image. The pull request ships 71 intros.
It works by file name: a wallpaper like backgrounds/road.webp is paired with backgrounds/intros/road.mp4, with no extra config. Custom wallpapers can get intros too, from an intros/ folder next to them. On a theme switch, the old wallpaper fades into the video over 420 ms while the new bar colors apply.
A follow-up, pull request #14567, merged on October 13, sharpened the clips. According to the pull request, each updated intro is native 1080p or better, encoded so Intel GPUs can decode it in hardware, opens on its scene without a fade from black, and ends on the wallpaper’s own pixels so there is no jump at the handoff.
If you’d rather skip the show, Toggle > Animations turns intros off. More are on the way: at the time of writing, intros for Gruvbox, Solitude, Kanagawa and Lupine are still in open pull requests. The feature isn’t in a stable release yet, so expect it in the next version.
