DHH’s Omarchy 4.6 roadmap: the full Snapdragon lineup, NVIDIA N1x, local AI out of the box and Omarchy Kids

Omarchy 4.5 had only been out for a few minutes when DHH said what comes next. Days later, the Snapdragon work is already landing.

Omarchy 4.5 was barely out the door when DHH moved on to the next one. “Omarchy 4.6 is already far along too. And this one won’t take as long to drop,” he wrote on X on November 5, 2026. His list has four items: “We’ll flesh out the entire Snapdragon line-up. Perfect the NVIDIA N1x machines. Out-of-the-box local AI. And hopefully finish Omarchy Kids and some of the other promises that weren’t ready for 4.5.” He didn’t give a release date.

Snapdragon is where most of the work is happening right now. Birk Skyum, who just joined Omarchy Core as the Dragon team delegate, got a big one merged on November 6, 2026. Pull request #17389 installs a machine’s own firmware package when one exists. According to the PR, a machine installed without Windows to copy firmware from had no sound, no battery reading and no GPU acceleration, and omarchy-pkgs now carries a firmware package for 33 machines.

Two more of Birk’s fixes went in the same day. #17662 fixes the disk unlock prompt on Snapdragon X2 (Glymur) machines like the HP OmniBook Ultra 14 and the Anduril BlueChip. The screen used to go black there, so owners had to type their password blind. #17934 refreshes the list of device trees before every boot image build. Without it, a kernel update that moves a machine to a new tree could leave it booting to a black screen, which the PR says would happen on the BlueChip.

DHH has been busy on Snapdragon hardware too. #18002 gives the Anduril BlueChip its own audio profile, since it previously offered only “Dummy Output”. The PR says sound comes from the left speakers only for now, and it needs an updated linux-omarchy-aarch64 kernel package before playback works. #18079, together with omarchy-iso #407, sets up disk unlock, audio and sleep on the ASUS Zenbook 14 UX3480QA. It builds on contributor Emir’s earlier PR and keeps his authorship.

Then there’s the polish. #18046 and its follow-up #18053 hide a harmless efivarfs mount error that Snapdragon laptops printed at every boot. #18050 stops a watchdog timeout error from showing at every shutdown. All of these PRs were merged on November 6 and 7, 2026, after 4.5 shipped, so they’re coming in the next version.

The NVIDIA side has less to show so far. Omarchy 4.5 shipped the first ARM ISO, and the 4.5 release notes describe early support for NVIDIA DGX Spark and N1X machines, warning users to expect rough edges and report problems on GitHub. “Perfect the NVIDIA N1x machines” is DHH’s goal for 4.6, but he hasn’t said what that will involve.

Local AI already has a solid base. The engine was merged on November 1, 2026, didn’t make it into 4.5.0 and is coming in the next version: omarchy agent local use best picks an open model that fits your hardware and runs it in a rootless Podman container with no network access. Each model shows up in the agents panel next to your subscriptions. We covered how it works when it landed. DHH’s word for 4.6 is “out-of-the-box”.

Omarchy Kids is the one item with a “hopefully” in front of it. The project has been running in the open since September, when DHH backed it publicly and community contributors shared early work on kids themes, a “Who is this computer for?” first-boot screen and a Kids section in the plugin directory. DHH didn’t say which of the “other promises that weren’t ready for 4.5” might make it in.

That’s on top of work we’ve already covered, like the redesigned display panel with monitor layout, resolution and refresh rate settings. With this many Snapdragon fixes landing in two days, “won’t take as long” looks pretty believable.
