Hype turns one Markdown file into a slide deck, and it’s a default app in Omarchy 4.5
Omacom’s presentation app now comes preinstalled, with a visual editor beside the source, a Presenter View for your speaker notes and export to PDF or PowerPoint.

Your next talk can live in a single Markdown file. Hype, Omacom’s presentation app, is now part of the default install in Omarchy 4.5, which shipped on November 4, 2026. The release notes sum it up: “Hype makes presentations from a single Markdown file, with a visual slide editor beside the source”, and it exports to PDF or PowerPoint.
The change came in through “Install Hype by default”, a pull request DHH opened and merged into the quattro branch on September 27, 2026. According to the PR, hype is added to Omarchy’s base packages for fresh installs, while existing machines get a migration that runs omarchy-pkg-add hype. Just like Monologue’s migration, it skips anyone who has already run Remove Preinstalls, so if you cleared out the Omacom apps, they stay gone.
Hype joins Omacut, Monologue, Omacalc and Omawrite in the preinstalls scripts, which means omarchy-install-preinstalls and omarchy-remove-preinstalls now handle it too. The manual also gets a Hype section in its GUIs chapter, next to LibreOffice.
The Hype README describes it as “Simple presentations, written in Markdown. Big headlines, images, video, and code”, with a visual editor for arranging them. Exports go two ways: PDF keeps text as vectors and embeds images at 4K, while PowerPoint stores each slide as a 4K-rendered JPEG, so the text isn’t editable there, and videos are embedded and converted to H.264 MP4 when needed.
The app has moved fast since the PR. Hype 0.6.0, released on October 15, added a Presenter View: the audience sees fullscreen slides on the external display, while your laptop shows the current slide, the next one, a slide counter and your speaker notes, written as <!-- comments --> in the Markdown. Connecting or disconnecting a display ends the show and puts the editor back on a connected screen.
That same release brought image placement in nine positions, so a logo can sit in a corner without disturbing the slide’s text layout or theme colors. You can pick a spot from the Layout menu or write it inline, as in , with sizes from 1% to 100%. Placed SVGs stay vector in PDF exports.
The day before, Hype 0.5.0 added inline drawings through svg code blocks that pick up the presentation’s colors and font, proper Markdown tables, and Shift+F5 to start from the first slide or jump back to it mid-presentation.
Already on Omarchy 4.5? Hype should be in your launcher after the update, unless you removed the preinstalls. Everyone else can grab it from the Omarchy Package Repository with omarchy pkg add hype.
