Hackerboy keeps Hackerman’s green desktop and gives the terminal its colours back
An open pull request on the Omarchy site would list Hackerboy, a community theme that leaves the near-black navy and neon green alone and restores red, yellow, blue, and the rest in the terminal.
Pull request 505 on omacom/omarchy-site, opened by ggregoro on October 3, 2026, asks to add Hackerboy to the community themes list. It is still open. The change is small on the site side, five lines across two files, and it points at the theme repo rather than shipping the theme itself.
The pitch is a terminal problem, not a new desktop look. Omarchy’s stock Hackerman theme maps every ANSI colour to a shade of green, so eza and ls, git diff, and syntax highlighting come out green-on-green. Hackerboy keeps the background, foreground, accent, green, and cyan, and gives red, yellow, orange, blue, magenta, and brown real hues so terminal output separates again. The pull request says four backgrounds are bundled, and the screenshot on the site would be btop and LazyVim on one of those wallpapers.
The theme README is more specific. Background stays #0B0C16, foreground #ddf7ff, and accent #82FB9C, all unchanged from Hackerman, along with green and cyan. The new hues are red #ff5f7a, yellow #f7d450, orange #ffa057, blue #5c9dff, magenta #c77dff, and brown #b08d57, plus brights. Window borders and the bar stay Hackerman green. Folder icons match Hackerman. The author notes that Hackerman’s stand-in “red” is #50f872 and its “yellow” is #50f7d4, which is why diffs and directory listings lose their meaning.
Install, once the theme is published, is the usual pair: omarchy theme install https://github.com/ggregoro/hackerboy and then omarchy theme set Hackerboy. A manual clone into ~/.config/omarchy/themes/hackerboy works the same way. Backgrounds cycle with Super+Ctrl+Space or omarchy theme bg next. Editing colors.toml and running omarchy theme set hackerboy regenerates terminal colours, Hyprland borders, the bar, btop, and Neovim from that file. omarchy theme set hackerman returns to stock. Theme files are MIT-licensed; the bundled wallpapers are the author’s own selection, including a Milky Way photo, and can be swapped out. Until the pull request merges, Hackerboy is a repo and an open site listing, not a theme already on omarchy.org/themes.
