The Omacom Foundation just crossed $13 million. DHH posted it today: the first four Distinguished Patrons each pledged $100,000.

That is not a press-release rounding error. It is four named builders putting cash into the same nonprofit that already holds the Omarchy trademarks, pays for infrastructure, and writes multi-year checks to the people who actually ship Hyprland, Quickshell, and mise. Twelve Founding Patrons at $1 million each. Two Distinguished Corporate Patrons at $100k/year for three years. Four new Distinguished Patrons at $100k. Eighteen backers. $13 million in under two weeks.

If you are still treating Omarchy as a ricing hobby: the ledger disagrees.

Ryan R. Hughes — Omarchy Core, partner at Oodle

Ryan R. Hughes needs no introduction if you have been watching the repo. He is on the Omarchy Core Team. DHH calls him the wingman since day one: installer, packaging, hardware, gaming, theming, CLI, then Quattro, Quickshell, and the plugin system. On GitHub he is still shipping Omarchy bits (on-screen keyboard plugin, gaming data, Ventoy themes). He also tagged v4.0.2.

His day job is partner at Oodle, a Cincinnati digital-marketing agency (strategy, tech, creative, media). GitHub lists him as Co-Founder @ThinkOodle. This is not a VC writing a check from the cheap seats. This is the person who has been in the 3am AUR outages, now putting his own $100,000 into the foundation that funds the distro he already builds.

Ed Huang — PingCAP, the company behind TiDB

Ed Huang is cofounder and CTO of PingCAP, the company behind TiDB, the open-source distributed SQL database (MySQL-compatible, HTAP, now pitched hard at agent workloads: transactions, analytics, and vectors in one engine). DHH’s line: a decade proving that serious open-source infrastructure can also be a serious business.

That is the same bet Omarchy is making at the OS layer. Agents need a database that does not fall over when they fork ten thousand tenants. They also need a desktop that does not fall over when they git push from a tiling compositor. Huang’s stack is TiDB and TiDB Cloud. Omarchy’s stack is Arch + Hyprland + Quickshell. Same shape: opinionated infrastructure, shipped as a product.

Adrien Treccani — Metaco, acquired by Ripple

Adrien Treccani founded Metaco, the Swiss digital-asset custody and tokenization shop. On 17 May 2023, Ripple bought it for $250 million. Reuters had the same number. Metaco’s pitch was institutional custody (Harmonize) for banks and global custodians. Ripple’s pitch was enterprise crypto rails. DHH’s pitch, already on the record when Brian Armstrong joined as a Founding Patron: make Omarchy a great place for crypto.

Treccani is the Swiss custody founder in that lineup. Math PhD, former hedge-fund quant, lecturer at EPFL / UNIL on cryptography and blockchain, co-author of Blockchain and Distributed Ledgers. After the Ripple deal he left Metaco (Ripple confirmed the exit in 2024). The Omacom check is personal, not a Ripple sponsorship.

Max Schoening — Notion, GitHub, Heroku

Max Schoening is Head of Product at Notion — the AI workspace (docs, projects, agents) that a large slice of the same developers who install Omarchy already live in. Before that he ran design at Heroku (git push heroku main, dynos, the platform that taught a generation that deploy can be boring). Then VP of Design at GitHub — Codespaces, Issues, Mobile, Discussions, marketing, dark mode. DHH: he has shaped more of the tools developers love than most people will ever know.

If Hughes is the distro mechanic, Schoening is the product-design stack those mechanics already use: GitHub to ship Omarchy, Heroku-shaped muscle memory for “just ship it,” Notion for the docs. Putting $100k into Omacom is the same people who designed the last decade of developer UX betting on the next desktop.

The spend is already live: exclusive Hyprland / Vaxry, premier Quickshell / outfoxxed, premier mise / jdx. Money in, money out. No Linux Foundation committee theater.
