OmaEar: a podcast player for Omarchy that follows your theme live
OmaEar is a new open-source podcast player built for Omarchy. It changes colours when you switch themes, keeps playing after you close the window, and updates along with the rest of the system.

“Just shipped my very first Omarchy-native app,” Allan Dehn posted on X on October 10, 2026. OmaEar (“Oh My Ear”) is a podcast player that follows your Omarchy theme live, keeps playing after you close the window, and updates with omarchy update. He says he built it with Grok.
The code is on GitHub as allanjorch/omaear, under the MIT license. The README describes it as a podcast player that “keeps a shelf of your shows and keeps playing after you close the window.”
The shelf shows your podcasts as a gallery or a list. Shows with new episodes come first, with a count on the cover, and shows you’ve caught up on are dimmed. An Explore tab searches the podcast directory and the top charts by region. You can also paste a feed URL or import your library from another app as an OPML file.
The player has the usual controls: back 15 seconds, forward 30, speeds from 0.5x to 2x, and a mono toggle for unbalanced recordings. There is also a queue you can reorder by dragging. When you close the window, the episode keeps going, with controls in the Omarchy bar and on your media keys.
The Omarchy touch is in the details. Colours and fonts come from the current theme and change live when you switch, logo included, and text size follows your display scale.
To install it, you run one script from the README. It adds OmaEar’s own signed package repository, so updates then arrive with omarchy update. The app is written in C++ with Qt 6, which Omarchy already ships.
