StudioXRadio says Omarchy now runs fully on an M4 MacBook Air, with a repo to follow

Omarchy on the Mac has so far meant M1, M2 and, more recently, M3 machines. One community member now says he has it running bare metal on an M4 MacBook Air. He is still fixing audio and the GPU before he publishes his work.

On October 9, 2026, X user StudioXRadio posted a short video with a bold claim: “Omarchy is installed and running on the M4 MacBook Air, fully.” He added that he was “working out a few kinks” and would then open up the repo. His profile says he builds Zeus SDR and daily drives Omarchy.

The post took off. At the time of writing it had more than 530 likes and about 21,600 views, and both DHH and Ryan Hughes had reposted it.

In the replies, StudioXRadio gave more detail. It is a bare-metal install: Omarchy boots from the Mac’s SSD and runs directly on the M4 hardware. macOS stays on a tiny partition, used only for recovery and firmware updates.

It isn’t finished yet. He said the M4 audio drivers were holding him up, and later that night that he was “still tweaking gpu and audio.” He also said the machine had been plugged in for three days straight while it was building, so he can’t say anything about battery life yet. On performance, his words were that it is “fast as shit.”

The M4 Pro comes next. He said it is “slightly different,” and that he has an M4 Pro Mac mini he wants to turn into his daily driver. He chose to start with the regular M4.

A word of caution: at the time of writing, the repo wasn’t public, and there was no official Omarchy installer for M4 Macs. The official Omarchy Mac effort, built on the Aurora kernel, currently covers M1, M2, M3 and the MacBook Neo. StudioXRadio says everything will be in the repo once he publishes it, so this one is worth watching rather than trying today.
