Zoom in and out of the Omarchy screen with Super + Ctrl + Z

Omarchy has a built-in screen zoom, and getting back out of it takes a single shortcut. Here are the keys, plus the scaling shortcut to use if you actually want everything smaller.

Zoomed into your Omarchy desktop and can’t find the way back? Or looking for the opposite, a way to zoom out? Both live on the same key. According to the current Hotkeys chapter of the Omarchy manual, screen zoom is a pair of shortcuts:

  • Super + Ctrl + Z: zoom in on the screen. Press it again for more zoom.
  • Super + Ctrl + Alt + Z: zoom fully out, straight back to the normal view.

So zooming out in Omarchy means adding Alt to the zoom-in shortcut. There’s no need to step back level by level: one press takes you all the way out, however far in you went.

Don’t confuse it with Super + Minus and Super + Equal. In Omarchy, those resize the focused window (expand and shrink it to the left, says the manual), they don’t zoom the screen.

If what you really want is to fit more on the screen, making the whole interface smaller rather than undoing a magnifier, monitor scaling is the better tool. The manual lists Super + / to step forward through the monitor scaling options and Super + Alt + / to step backward.

Can’t remember any of this? Super + K shows all the main keyboard bindings on screen. And if you want to change them, the manual points to ~/.config/hypr/bindings.lua.

The built-in zoom is handy for a quick look at small text or a detail in a screenshot. For full-time low-vision use, with scroll and pinch zoom or colour inversion, have a look at the community Omarchy Magnifier plugin.
