Omarchy 4.5 changes terminal copy and paste: Super + C and Super + V now send Ctrl + Shift + C and V

Omarchy’s universal clipboard keys speak the terminal’s usual language in 4.5, and Super + A joins them as select all. Here’s what changes when you update.

If you copy and paste in a terminal with Omarchy’s universal clipboard keys, 4.5 changes what happens under the hood. In a terminal window, Super + C now sends Ctrl + Shift + C and Super + V sends Ctrl + Shift + V, the chord many Linux terminals use for copy and paste. Until now, those same keys sent Ctrl + Insert and Shift + Insert. Everywhere else, nothing moves: other apps still receive plain Ctrl + C and Ctrl + V.

The change comes from Ryan Hughes in PR #12915, merged on September 22, 2026. It’s a small edit to a single file, default/hypr/bindings/clipboard.lua, and the same file at the v4.5.0 tag still carries it, so it ships in the final 4.5 release, tagged on November 5, 2026.

The same PR adds a new key: Super + A now sends Ctrl + A, so select all works with the same Super-based muscle memory as copy, paste and cut. Unlike copy and paste, it sends Ctrl + A to every window, terminal or not.

How does Omarchy know a window is a terminal? It checks for a terminal tag defined in default/hypr/apps/terminals.lua. At v4.5.0 that tag covers Alacritty, kitty, Ghostty, foot and WezTerm, plus Omarchy’s own terminal and TUI windows (the org.omarchy.* and TUI.* app IDs). Those get the Ctrl + Shift chords; anything else gets the plain Ctrl ones.

The rest of the clipboard bindings are untouched by the PR: Super + X still sends Ctrl + X for cut, and Super + Ctrl + V still opens the clipboard manager. If you had set up a terminal, a TUI or a script around Ctrl + Insert and Shift + Insert arriving from Super + C and Super + V, that’s the part to check after updating.

The Omarchy 4.5 release notes, dated November 4, 2026, list the terminal copy and paste change under “Changed hotkeys”, in a short group of keys that “work differently”. Super + A (select all) appears among the new defaults that could collide with bindings of your own, alongside Super + Q and Super + M. If one of those clashes with your setup, the notes also mention a new o.rebind helper for replacing Hyprland keybindings (#10537).

Copy and paste isn’t the only shortcut on the move in 4.5: the calculator, activity and network shortcuts changed too, and nightlight lost its key. We went through that list when it first appeared in the RC2 notes, and the final notes keep it. Already on Omarchy? Update > Omarchy brings it all in.
