Omarchy 4.5 no longer ships OBS Studio, Kdenlive or Lazydocker on new installs
Monologue and Omacut take over recording and trimming duties in Omarchy 4.5, and Lazydocker leaves the default package list. Existing machines keep everything they already have.

Omarchy 4.5 is a leaner install. Fresh setups of the new release no longer get OBS Studio, Kdenlive or Lazydocker, as the Omarchy 4.5 release notes published on November 4, 2026 put it: “With Monologue for recording and Omacut for trimming, new installs no longer ship OBS Studio and Kdenlive.”
The video apps went first. In pull request #14962, merged on October 11, 2026, DHH wrote that Monologue (webcam recording) and Omacut (trimming) “now cover what most people used OBS Studio and Kdenlive for.” The PR drops obs-studio and kdenlive from install/omarchy-base.packages, and the preinstall scripts follow the same list.
That has a practical consequence: according to the PR, running “Install Preinstalls” won’t bring the two apps back, and “Remove Preinstalls” won’t uninstall them from machines that have them. If you still want OBS, DHH notes it remains available from the Omarchy package repository.
The first-boot tip changes to match. It now reads “Edit images with Pinta, trim videos with Omacut, docs with LibreOffice”, and the manual’s welcome page names Hype and Monologue instead, while the GUIs chapter loses its OBS Studio and Kdenlive sections.
Lazydocker went a week earlier, in pull request #14230, merged on October 4, 2026. New installs no longer include the TUI or its Docker app launcher, but Docker and Docker Compose remain installed, so containers work out of the box as before.
Nothing gets yanked from machines you already run. PR #14962 says plainly that “Existing installs keep both apps: there’s no migration,” and PR #14230 adds no removal migration either. The Super + Shift + D shortcut stays enabled whenever Lazydocker is installed. The release notes sum it up: “Machines that already have any of them keep them.”
So if you’re installing 4.5 today and live in OBS or Lazydocker, add them back yourself. Everyone else gets Monologue and Omacut for video and a slightly smaller default package list.
