Four days after its GitLab debut, the Omarchy-style Android TV launcher has a GitHub home and a big beta: a terminal assistant on the TV, an MCP server for AI agents, three new themes and a phone installer.

OmarchyTV has made it to GitHub. “OmarchyTV is officially live on GitHub!” creator Marco Porro posted on X on October 26, 2026, thanking @dhh and @kdaigle “for helping get my GitHub account back online so quickly.” When we first covered the launcher on October 23, that account was still stuck in review and the project lived on GitLab only.

The new piermark/omarchytv repo was created on October 26, 2026 and had already gathered 188 stars and 14 forks by the morning of October 27. The README now lists GitHub and GitLab as “official synchronized repositories,” with every download offered from both, and the license is still MIT.

It arrives with version 2.12.0-beta, which the README dates October 25, 2026. The headline feature is Grok Bot, a native Omarchy-style TUI window on the TV home shelf, complete with the 2 px borders, btop-style legend and CaskaydiaMono prompt. Local commands like theme jade-horse, next theme, wallpaper, screensaver, open YouTube or status work offline on the TV, by voice, keyboard or D-pad quick chips. Open-ended questions are forwarded over the encrypted LAN link to the already signed-in AI CLI on your paired PC or Mac (grok, claude, codex, gemini, hermes or a local ollama), and the reply streams back into the terminal.

There’s also a native MCP server, so agents in Claude Desktop, Cursor or Hermes can drive the TV. The TV answers POST /mcp on port 47800, and on the PC side omarchy-tv mcp --stdio or omarchy-tv mcp --http --port 8990 (bound to localhost, with a Bearer token) does the job. According to the README, agents only get a strict whitelist of TV tools, such as tv_set_theme, tv_send_key, tv_launch_app and tv_cast_media.

The theme count goes from 23 to 26, all MIT-licensed with 4K wallpapers bundled. The newcomers are DHH’s jade-horse and year-of-the-horse plus Archer Clawbot’s hermarchy. Marco had DHH’s horse themes running on his TV on October 25, the day after they were announced, which DHH celebrated on X. A new “Sync PC wallpaper” toggle, off by default, keeps pairing from overwriting the TV’s bundled wallpaper.

You no longer need a PC to install it. The new OmarchyTV Mobile companion, a 178 KB Android app, scans your Wi-Fi for the TV, downloads the release, verifies its SHA-256 checksum, installs it over wireless ADB and sets it as the home screen in one tap. It doubles as a touch remote and theme switcher, and it can serve an HTML5 version of the launcher to Samsung Tizen and Hisense VIDAA TVs.

LG owners get an experimental webOS build, 2.11.0-testing, which the README is careful to label “testing” rather than beta. The test list has grown too: beyond the original Sony KD-55XE9005, community members report OmarchyTV working on a Google TV Streamer, a Sharp AQUOS set and a Noblex TV on the Hisense platform. The release also adds Sharp AQUOS Live TV detection, smoother scrolling in long menus and a Hidden apps manager.

The README still warns in capitals: “BETA SOFTWARE: THINGS MAY NOT WORK.” Fire TV Stick 4K Max and 4K Plus are untested, while the Fire TV Stick 4K Select, Roku and Apple TV are not supported natively.
