Omarchy 4.5 RC3 is the first release with the new Apple Silicon installer, plus another round of fixes
The third 4.5 release candidate adds a Mac installer for M1, M2, M3 and Neo, plus fixes for mixed-scale monitors, HDR, lid closing and more. Here’s what changed since RC2 and how to install it.

Omarchy 4.5 now has a third release candidate. Ryan Hughes published v4.5.0-rc3 as a GitHub prerelease on November 2, 2026, less than a week after RC2. “Just a few more fixes before final release,” he wrote on X, calling it “the first release including the new Apple Silicon installer for M1, M2, M3, and Neo.” The headline features are the same as in RC2. If you’re catching up, our RC1 and RC2 posts cover the big additions and the shortcuts that moved. This post covers what’s new since RC2.
Installing it works the same way as before. On an existing machine, pick Update > Channel > RC, then Update > Omarchy. For new installs, the release notes list three downloads, each with its SHA256 checksum:
- x86_64: omarchy-4.5.0-rc3-x86.iso, SHA256
715d7c72d51c29a1e2db7b8f8562d54f0f5710b9c1c5a4243800be48fba24269 - aarch64: omarchy-4.5.0-rc3-aarch64.iso, SHA256
d5f38ba3bdd15175db0146826ca1a42c1722f717cbbc76de302f24aa80a23f9b - Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3, Neo): Omarchy-Mac-Installer-2.3.13.dmg, SHA256

The Mac download is the big addition to the notes. Note that 2.3.13 is the installer’s version number, not Omarchy’s. Two Mac items also join the Compatibilities section: the RC channel is now offered on Apple Silicon Macs (#16986), and Omarchy’s aliases, functions and environment no longer go missing from new terminals there (#17041). One wording change sits nearby: the NVIDIA highlight now reads “Add support for NVIDIA N1x laptops,” where RC2’s said “NVIDIA N1x laptops and DGX Spark.”
Four improvements are new in RC3. sudo asks for your password once and remembers it for ten minutes (#17000), the backport we covered on November 1, 2026. In the installer, Full disk install is listed first and Esc takes you back on the disk screens (omarchy-iso#348). Tray icons now line up with the rest of the bar (#16089), and Hyprland’s donation popup no longer appears after upgrades (#17153).
Multi-monitor and laptop setups get the most important fixes. Scaling one monitor no longer changes the scale of every other monitor (#16923). XWayland apps no longer come out too big when monitors use different scales (#16950). Hyprland no longer crashes when a monitor is unplugged, disabled or turned off by closing the lid (#16750). HDR displays no longer switch to a washed-out picture when a window goes fullscreen (#17157). And the hidden bar stops catching clicks along the top of fullscreen windows (#16991).
The rest of the fix list is a long tail. Omasnap’s scroll capture no longer grabs only black frames (#16715), and the cursor no longer turns invisible over XWayland apps (#14580). Re-enabling a plugin brings its bar widget back (#12540). Switching languages no longer rebuilds every locale and loses them on a nearly full disk (#16414). OS Age in About counts from your install instead of the ISO build (#16828). Go AUR packages build again when mise manages Go (#16388). The clock stops flooding the log every millisecond when daylight saving time ends (#16684). Installing a theme no longer prints an OWE error (#16872), and T3 Code installs no longer stop while matching the current theme (#16962). On the installer side, you can now type to search in the timezone picker (#17040), and the live ISO no longer hangs behind the splash when booted from a Ventoy stick (omarchy-iso#348). And the update to 4.5 itself no longer stops when the shell is slow to answer (#13468).
Three security fixes were added too. SSH setup no longer leaves sshd running with password logins when no key gets added (#14667). Another local user can no longer swap in their own program during a Voxtype upgrade (omarchy-pkgs#937). And factory reset now passes your gum settings through sudo more safely (#13316).
One fix landed just too late for RC3. A change by emirb makes omarchy update refresh omarchy-keyring together with the Arch keyring before the system upgrade, so a package signed with a new Omarchy key doesn’t stop the update. It was merged on the quattro branch (#17311) and backported to the 4.5 branch (#17355) on November 2, 2026. According to the backport PR, “4.5.0rc3 still has the old step.” Tom Ballard’s daily recap also notes it was merged “after RC3 was cut.” According to the PR, nothing changes for users until a newer omarchy-keyring is published.
The team says it’s close. “We’re so, so close now on 4.5,” DHH posted on November 2, 2026, adding that “the improvements coming in 4.6 are already stacking up.” The official @omarchy account asked testers to “help us put the finishing touches on 4.5.” Meanwhile, Anush Elangovan reported a 7-second Omarchy install with RC2 on his Gorgon Halo laptop on November 1, 2026.
No date has been announced for the final 4.5. Until then, the notes keep their warning: run the RC on a test machine, or keep a backup you know how to roll back to. If something breaks, report it on GitHub.
