NO SIGNAL’s video tour puts OmarchyTV’s theme sync, screensavers and desktop remote on the big screen
A 19-minute walkthrough shows Omarchy themes following you from desk to living room, and the YouTuber behind it also wrote the Home button fix that keeps Google TV from taking the screen back.
Want to see what Omarchy looks like on a television? YouTube channel NO SIGNAL posted “Omarchy On Your TV – Theme Sync, Screensavers, And A Remote Built Into Your Desktop” on October 31, 2026, a 19-minute-17-second tour of OmarchyTV, Marco Porro’s Omarchy-style home screen for Android TV, Google TV, LG and Samsung sets.
The headline trick is theme sync. In the video, he installs the companion plugin on his Omarchy desktop, switches themes at his desk, and the TV follows “a few seconds later,” as the description puts it. He also shows a remote control panel in his bar, with buttons for home, volume, theme sync, apps, settings and a jump straight to YouTube. According to the OmarchyTV README, the PC plugin “Syncs your active Omarchy desktop theme to the TV,” and the project “never roots or uninstalls anything,” so you can always switch back to your stock home screen.
Screensavers get their own segment. The video shows Omarchy screensavers, including the aquarium and orchids, running on the TV. The README lists 37 tte.js ASCII effects plus the Aquarium, now the default screensaver, Marco’s homage to Future Crew’s Second Reality. Cinemarchy, the media hub that arrived as 0.1.0-alpha in the 2.13.0-beta of October 29, 2026, pulls in DHH’s public YouTube uploads, YouTube and your own IPTV playlists.
There’s a nice contribution story behind the video too. “When I first set mine up the Google TV launcher kept grabbing the home button back, so I sent a PR and Marco merged it,” the description says. That’s PR #50, opened by @28allday and merged by Marco on October 29, 2026. It adds an opt-in “Home button opens OmarchyTV” setting for TVs like the Google TV Streamer, where OmarchyTV can’t become the default home: an accessibility service, off by default, notices the stock home screen and brings OmarchyTV up over it. The PR notes that the stock home flashes briefly first.
On compatibility, the video maker says Google TV is confirmed working, while Sharp AQUOS sets and the Android TV emulator still have rough edges. The README, for its part, lists a Sharp AQUOS set as working in community testing. He also built a small bar plugin, TV View, that bounces the TV picture back onto his desktop with mouse control. It isn’t public: “I’ll publish it if anyone wants it.”
The project kept moving after the video. OmarchyTV 2.13.8, released on October 31 and tested by Marco on his Sony BRAVIA, adds a Grok Bot Direct mode that works with the PC off, makes the Blue key launch Grok Bot, offers an optional Grok voice, and syncs Philips Hue lights to the theme colour. Versions 2.13.9 and 2.13.10, out on October 31 and November 1, are for LG webOS and Samsung Tizen only, so the Android TV APK stays at 2.13.8.
OmarchyTV is MIT-licensed and, as the README stresses, an unofficial fan project not affiliated with Omarchy. If you’ve been following our coverage since the 2.12 beta, this video is the quickest way to see how it all fits together on a real TV.
