outfoxxed joins Omacom as Head of Omarchy Shell
DHH announced on September 9, 2026 that outfoxxed is joining the Omacom Foundation full time as Head of Omarchy Shell and a member of Omarchy Core. The move replaces the three-year Quickshell sponsorship from August.
On September 9, 2026, DHH announced that outfoxxed is joining the Omacom Foundation full time as Head of Omarchy Shell and becoming a member of Omarchy Core.
He created Quickshell, the QML toolkit behind Omarchy Shell—the bar, menus, notifications, and widgets that Quattro already uses.
The announcement’s own plugin examples include games you play from the bar and a cat that wanders along the bar.
This hire supersedes the three-year Quickshell sponsorship announced on August 24, 2026. At that sponsorship, the community already had over a thousand plugins in Quattro’s first week.
As of September 9, the catalogue on plugins.omarchy.org is close to three thousand plugins.
According to the announcement, the brief is a faster and more reliable shell, easier plugin building, stronger security, and carrying what those experiments teach into the default desktop—while Omarchy Core work sets direction for the distro as a whole.
As of September 9 he was the foundation’s second full-time hire, after Krzysztof Wilczyński as Head of Omarchy Kernel. The staff page now also lists Emir Beganović as Head of Infrastructure.
