David Heinemeier Hansson says Omarchy 4.0.3 is shipping shortly with out-of-the-box Hermes and OpenClaw integrations under Install > AI — aiming to make Omarchy the easiest home for major AI harnesses.

David Heinemeier Hansson just put a near-term version on the board. On 8 September 2026 he posted that Omarchy 4.0.3 is shipping shortly, with out-of-the-box integrations for Hermes from Nous Research and OpenClaw from Peter Steinberger (@steipete / @openclaw). The path he named: Install > AI. Source: DHH on X.

That is a product move, not a vibe post. Omarchy already sells itself as the agentic desktop; 4.0.3 is DHH saying the big harnesses should land with minimal configuration, and that Omarchy should become the best place to run them. Upstream stable is still Omarchy 4.0.2 — there is no 4.0.3 GitHub tag or ISO yet. Treat this as the shipping call from the creator until the release lands on GitHub releases or omarchy.org/news.

Hermes Agent is Nous Research’s open-source, self-improving agent (skills from experience, persistent memory, multi-channel). Nous Research builds open-source language models and agent infrastructure. OpenClaw is the open-source personal AI assistant / agent harness Steinberger created (gateway, skills, chat channels); the project is stewarded by the OpenClaw Foundation and remains MIT-licensed (GitHub). Steinberger has written publicly about joining OpenAI while keeping OpenClaw independent under the foundation (steipete.me).

DHH is creator of Omarchy, co-owner and CTO of 37signals, creator of Ruby on Rails, and president of the Omacom Foundation. When 4.0.3 ships, watch Install > AI on an updated Omarchy box — and verify the tag before you treat downloads as live.
