ThePrimeagen Speeds Omarchy Automated QA

0

DHH says ThePrimeagen is now spearheading automated QA for Omarchy, after Prime posted that he’s working on Omarchy Automation. Full circle for Linux, agents, and a former Netflix engineer who never stopped shipping.

David Heinemeier Hansson just put a clean label on a big hire of attention: ThePrimeagen is “spearheading automated QA for Omarchy.” That’s not community chatter. That’s the creator of Omarchy quoting Prime and saying the quiet part out loud.

Prime’s own post is blunt and on-brand:

Dear Interns,

Working on Omarchy Automation. Brownbaggin, Teabaggin, Lunabaggin, Frodobaggins this AGI with me

With Care and Tokens,

ThePrimeagen

DHH’s reply-quote lands the frame: “It really is full circle that the man partly responsible for bringing me to Linux is now spearheading automated QA for Omarchy. Love this man!” The quote points at Prime’s post (2095670607702589747); DHH’s confirmation is here (2095779721283821874). There’s also a linked X broadcast on the same thread: 1NxaroevqljKj.

Who ThePrimeagen is

ThePrimeagen is Michael Paulson — former Netflix engineer, Twitch/YouTube programming streamer, Neovim evangelist, and one of the loudest “make software fun again” voices on the internet. He’s known for YouTube and Twitch coding streams, Frontend Masters-style teaching energy, and a Lex Fridman-scale interview trail (The New Stack on that conversation). When someone with that reach says they’re “working on Omarchy Automation,” and DHH answers with “spearheading automated QA,” that’s a personnel signal for the distro, not a meme.

Who DHH is in this picture

DHH is co-owner and CTO of 37signals (Basecamp, HEY, Fizzy, ONCE), creator of Ruby on Rails, and the force behind Omarchy — the Arch-based, Hyprland + Quickshell “beautiful, fun & agentic” Linux distro. The project’s GitHub lives at github.com/basecamp/omarchy (same tree as omacom/omarchy). The Omacom Foundation is funding the mission hard; homepage currently banners total pledges at $14.95M. Quattro (4.0) rewrote the desktop shell; 4.0.2 is still the latest release on GitHub as of this watch.

Why this matters now

Omarchy’s growth problem isn’t “more screenshots.” It’s shipping an agent-heavy desktop at Quattro scale without the release train melting. Automated QA is how you keep a fast-moving Arch-based stack honest when agents and humans are both slamming PRs. Putting ThePrimeagen on that problem — with DHH’s explicit endorsement — is the kind of cultural and technical bet that fits Omarchy’s e/acc posture: serious people, unserious memes, real systems work.

We are not inventing a product roadmap from the posts. What’s on the record today is the role claim (automated QA / Omarchy Automation) plus the people. No omarchy.org/news item and no new GitHub release tagged this announcement yet. When an official news post or repo drops with scope, versions, or CI details, that’s the follow-up — not a rehash of this endorsement.

For now: Prime’s in. DHH said it. Omarchy’s QA story just got a face.
